[Solved] How to temporary disable skipping?

#1 Post by Lockvia » Tue Mar 29, 2016 10:05 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to display a screen with the chapter name (e.g. Chapter 1, Chapter 2) when the user clicks on the skipping mode. At the moment, when the skipping mode is on, it just skips the chapter screen as well. I'm trying to temporary disable the skipping mode, make it pause at the chapter name, then turn the skipping mode back on if it was activated in the first place.

Code: Select all

label prologue_1:

    show screen disable_keymap
    scene chp prologue 1
    with fade
    $ renpy.pause(5, hard=True)
    hide screen disable_keymap

    scene bg sky morning
    with fade
    pause (1)

    window show
    "The sunlight pours in through my curtains, illuminating the empty space around me."

Any help would be awesome!

Code: Select all

$ _skipping = False
To re-enable it.

Code: Select all

$ _skipping = True
You can also access config.skipping (the worst named variable in Ren'Py) to control the skipping state.

Oh, no, it *does* work, it's just that the skipping indicator still toggles on or off when you hit the tab key, even when skipping is disabled. Hmmm
