I recently released One Night Stand for Nanoreno and I'm finally able to try and fix the issue where many Windows users seem to be having trouble downloading the game. It comes up with some kind of security issue, and in some cases, when the game has been successfully installed, anti-virus software deletes all the files.
I made the entire game on Mac and unfortunately have no access to my own PC to test this out. I was wondering if this is an issue anyone else has had? I imagine it's because I've made it on Mac, with no anti-virus software, and Windows just doesn't like that. I also saved out the build for all desktop platforms... would a separate one for Windows, Linux and Mac stop this issue?
Here's what people have said:
Just so you are aware, Norton Anti-Virus absolutely hates all the files that make up your game. I tried running it, only to have Norton go through and remove every single file. I'm not sure what processes are required so norton views your game as safe, but it would be worth looking into.
My internet download manager got deleted. Even if I enabled the alternative download, it still doesn't work.(
I can't download the file because I'm getting privacy error from itch.io
FYI I also spoke to Itch.io and they said it's a problem with the build, not their website. You just have to "enable alternate download mode" while pressing the "Downloads not starting?" at the right of the screen and it should work fine. (It didn't want to download for me at first, either.)
