Music in Ren'Py

#1 Post by PurpleMind » Sun Jul 10, 2016 2:28 pm

I'm curious about the mechanics of the music playback in a Ren'Py game, because that could surely affect the composition processes for such games. What are the possibilities? Is it possible to loop certain parts of audio files, instead of the whole? Is it possible to play more than one track at the same time? Are there any tools for post-processing an audio file?

Have you read the documentation? The answers to your questions are there.
https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/audio.html
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)

No. To be honest, I wouldn't have thought about it. Thanks

The documentation is very extensive and I recommend starting there when trying to get a handle on RenPy.
If you haven't read the QuickStart: https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/quickstart.html You really should.

Then from there skim through the other bits.

When I have a question, my order of doing this is:
1) Check the Documentation
2) A make a tester game and check out the basic files that come with a basic game (options.rpy, screens.rpy, script.rpy) and see if I understand what is in those scripts. They are, for example, great examples of how to make screens. I also check out the script to The Question and The Tutorial and see if that tells me what I need. I also just try to code what I have a question about on my own first. If it isn't working..
3) I do a search of the lemmasoft forums to see if my question has already been answered.
4) Then, if none of that works, then I make question.

Not trying to get a handle on Ren'Py, but I do appreciate the effort you put into guiding me through logical searching mechanisms.
