Basic-Renpy quits before opening

Main Question: Presumably because I'm using a fairly old version of Mac (2011, on hardware from 2008), I can't seem to get Ren'py working. Whenever I try to open the application, it flashes open for a split second and disappears. Is there anything can I troubleshoot to try to prevent this?

Attempted Solutions:
-I have tried downloading some older versions of Ren'py, but the farthest back I have found are from 2015, and they haven't worked. I have gotten Ren'py games from a few years ago to open on my computer, but it's sort of a crapshoot.
-I have tried using Wine to open the .exe file, and while that does seem to work and I've familiarized myself with the program some, I've run into difficulties with adding images to my directories presumably because of the in-between of Wine. Best case scenario, I figure out how to open the Mac version of the program and those problems clear up, but otherwise I will probably come back here with more questions about directories.

What version of Mac OS X are you running? Is there a log.txt, traceback.txt, or something like that? IIRC, we only support Mac OS X 10.6.

There's a log.txt, I'll share the text I guess?

Can you give me the mac log? A wine log doesn't help much.

There are no throwback.txts, and excluding what I posted and previous versions of that same Wine log, the only other log is this, which I'm 95% sure is just from when I downloaded editra from in wine:

running ['Z:\\Users\\Nat\\Desktop\\renpy-6.99.11-sdk\\lib\\windows-i686\\zsync.exe', '-o', 'Z:\\Users\\Nat\\Desktop\\renpy-6.99.11-sdk\\update\\editra-windows.update.new', '-k', 'Z:\\Users\\Nat\\Desktop\\renpy-6.99.11-sdk\\update\\editra-windows.zsync', '-i', 'Z:\\Users\\Nat\\Desktop\\renpy-6.99.11-sdk\\update\\editra-windows.update', 'http://update.renpy.org/6.99.11/renpy-6 ... dows.zsync']

If I have to go into my computer itself to view all activities performed in the timeframe of the malfunction, I'm gonna need clear directions on how to get there.

When you download the SDK, you should try to run it. It should then produce a log.txt or traceback.txt in the folder above the app.

... perhaps I extracted it wrong? When I extracted it, I got the folder shown in the attached image, and assumed the file titled "renpy" (shown in the other image) was the full Mac version, with the other files being support. As stated before, when I've tried to run the renpy file, it quits pretty much as soon as I click on it. Or is the SDK you refer to something else?
I apologize for all my confused stumbling about.

There is a log.txt file right there in the SDK folder.

That's the one I posted first, the wine log.

Do you have one that doesn't run in wine?

In that one, once run, you might have to control-click and pick "Show Package Contents" to find log.txt within.

Whenever I try to open the application outside of wine, it quits before anything happens and leaves no log behind.

Actually, have you tried right click and select "Open"? It could be security permission thing that prevent unknown file from the Internet to open in Mac OS.

To check, what is the SDK folder? Just the extracted stuff I've shown, or am I missing something?

Selecting "Open" made no difference, it quit as usual.

I tried the "Show Package Contents" with the renpy file, and there was a terminal file titled renpy, but nothing specifically titled log.txt or throwback.txt. Here is the stuff in the terminal file:
