I'm new to RenPy and I'm trying to do a timed menu for a fan game but it keeps giving this error:
Code: Select all
I'm sorry, but errors were detected in your script. Please correct the
errors listed below, and try again.
File "game/script.rpy", line 216: expected menuitem
$time = 5
^
File "game/script.rpy", line 227: expected statement.
"I shouldn’t leave the yard." :
^
Ren'Py Version: Ren'Py 6.99.11.1749
if you need context of the error here it is:
menu:
$time = 5
$timer range = 5
$timer jump = 'Discovered'
"Get closer.":
hide screen countdown
"I followed through an leapt to the other side of the fence, perpetually falling until landing on a cold hard floor."
jump Curiosity
"I shouldn’t leave the yard." :
hide screen countdown
"I listened to my instinct."
___________
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong

You cannot have arbitrary code in menu sttatements. Move code not related to menu items before menu.
