"butler program not found"

Hi. So there's that "upload to itch.io" option under build distributions, but I can't figure out how to get it to work.
I downloaded the itch.io app and even set up the command line access for butler, but whenever I click that option in renpy it says
"Error. The butler program was not found. Please install the itch.io app which includes butler and try again."
When I try to upload them normally (selecting the .zip folders from the itch.io upload page), they take hours to upload, then it just says "something went wrong" with no details as to what that was.
Any advice on how to upload my game would be appreciated. ;-;;;
