Define an image from an online source?

Is there any way to define an image for Ren'Py to use that I can update via an online source such as SFTP or FTPS via TSL or other similar methods?
I was thinking of including a screen for advertising 'upcoming titles' or similar that may change over time and I'd rather not ask people to update for what is essentially an in-built ad.
My target platforms are Android and iOS, if that makes any difference.

Can you show an image showing upcoming projects at the time of release, and then provide a browser link saying "click here to view current and upcoming projects"?

I could, but this was more of an idea for Cooking with RWBY, linked in my signature.

I was hoping to add an in-app advertisement for the IP owners and hopefully get them to officially adopt the project.
I believe that including some 'free' advertising about their constantly updating Store catalogue / featured shows index, would help improve my odds of achieving that goal.

There isn't a good way to do this at the moment. Let me think for a bit and see if i can come up with a way that would let you do it, since it seems like it could be a nice feature to have.

Turns out that this has existed for a long time as config.file_open_callback, which I had forgotten about.
