Creating a Dialogue Portrait

#1 Post by wolfbloodrei »

I know there are Ren'Py games that have little bust Portraits next to their Dialogue Box, and a lot of times that Portrait changes expressions. This is something I want to do for my game, but I cannot seem to get the Portrait itself to show up, let alone align it. I've tried inputting different codes I've seen around the forum- init and define codes- with no such luck.

I'm rather new to Ren'Py and to coding in general, and a lot of the time coding will go over my head, so it's likely I've just missed something really simple. So I'm sorry if this is actually a really easy process that I can't seem to understand. ^-^; I know about show image "image.png" and such, but I know there's specific ways to set these things up.

What I want is to put the Portrait here, where it's circled:

Please help.

Check the documentation on "side images"
This should be good enough, but if tou have difficulty, don't hesitate to further ask for help / directions
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.
pro·gram·mer (noun) An organism capable of converting caffeine into code.
