In the space of about an hour, I turned a public domain poem into a renpy NVL mode game.
It's far from complete, but I thought I'd check out how well self voicing worked on auto play (trying to gauge reading speed)
I instantly noticed two things:
While the 'game' was still ADV mode, auto forward works fine with self voicing enabled, but any {w} tags are completely ignored.
In NVL mode, another curiosity pops up:
In addition to {w} tags being completely ignored, auto forward mode does not work.
This is a project using the new GUI interface and the only changes I have made to it from default is literally the script.
Is this a bug in self voicing, or is it something on my particular computer?

Re: Some things I noticed about self voicing
Ignoring {w} and AFM are both intentional for self voicing. It's meant for vision-impaired users, and so simplifies the interface to make it work well for them.
{w} is a problem because the same text shows multiple times. AFM is a problem since if it's enabled, the text can advance before self-voicing is complete.

Re: Some things I noticed about self voicing
I suppose the only proper workaround is to include full voicing? Does auto wait for the voicing to finish?

Yes, it does.
Self-voicing is an accessibility feature, not a replacement for a voice track.
