This is my first time writing a renpy game, and I'm still learning the basics but dialogue is pretty straightforward and easy. But for some reason every piece of written dialogue has failed, so I just have a screen that says "Parsing the script failed."
The Renpy wiki is absolutely no help, as this seems to be some weird problem with the punctuation marks. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else, either.
This is an example of some of the dialogue:
r “Well, I guess I just got kicked out of class for sleeping.”
r “But hey, whatever.”
r “O-oh crap..”
But all that the error report gives me is this:
File "game/script.rpy", line 38: expected statement.
r “Well, I guess I just got kicked out of class for sleeping.”
^
File "game/script.rpy", line 40: expected statement.
r “But hey, whatever.”
^
File "game/script.rpy", line 42: expected statement.
r “O-oh crap..”
^

Re: All Dialogue Failed
Could you post all of your code in-between the code tags so we can see what might be going on? There may well be problems going on before you get the dialogue that are causing those errors.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?) Check out My Clock Cookbook Recipe: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 51&t=21978

Re: All Dialogue Failed
Could it be that you defined no character to be called r? Or maybe you used "non-standard" quotation marks?
Otherwise, yes, we need more than your dialogue.
