Okay, a paper deadline has passed, the weekend has arrived, and my supply of round tuits has more than doubled. So I've implemented readback mode. Please note that by its very nature, readback mode is limited as compared to rollback mode. The good news is, I've figured out how to make the two coexist in the same program, with readback taking over if rollback is disabled or the rollback limit is reached.

The version of readback mode at the url given above will work with 4.7.1. In the future, readback mode will go into the extras/ directory of the Ren'Py distribution.
I hope you don't use readback mode, and therefore don't give me feeback. But if you do try it, I'd like to know how it works.
