Ren'py Extensible Window When On Different Sized Monitor?

#1 Post by SuperbowserX »

Since I last worked on my Ren'py project, which I've had to take a break from due to school, I've started simultaneously using a second monitor on my laptop that is of a different size. (The laptop is 1366 x 768, this monitor is 1280 x 760). While the game works just fine on the laptop... it cannot go past the 1366 x 768 size it was made for on my laptop on the other monitor.

Whenever I try to extend it, it just resizes.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Your second monitor (given that the px-measurements are correct) is smaller (the resolution) than the laptop screen. So... what are you trying to extend? Are you trying to extend it across two monitors? If so, that should work fine. I'm assuming you're using "windowed mode"? Unless you are, the game will fill the screen it's on.

I'm using windowed mode.

When I try to maximize the window on my laptop, it works fine.

But when I try to maximize the window on my second monitor (where it should auto-fit), it glitches out and refuses to expand.

Does that clarify?

Hm. Does this happen when you maximise the windowed version, or when you chose "full screen" from the options? Or both? Any particular screen-settings anywhere in your game? It shouldn't glitch like that, but I do not know what's the cause, unfortunately.

Hmmm, this is interesting.

When I changed my PC settings to only display on the second screen.

The game window worked and fitted perfectly.

but when I use extend it only likes to work on my laptop's screen.

Perhaps this is to do with primary/secondary monitor settings.

That's very weird - can it maybe have anything to do with drivers or something on your laptop? I have a three-screen setup here, on my desktop, and I can switch between the different screens (with the game), dragging it, resizing it, go fullscreen or whatnot, without issues. Have not tested on a laptop / external screen, though.

No. 2 1920x1080, and one 1680x1050. I did a test and hooked up a really old Dell-screen as well, with 1280x1024, still works fine across screens. Nvidia Titan on latest GeForce-drivers, Windows 10.
