Can Anyone Explain Image Maps?

#1 Post by Lysandrus »

I know i need an image map for this but I dont know how to do that even after reading tutorials.
here is the situation.

I have a background that is a cupcake pan (cupcakepan) I will provide a sample Image below
and I want to be able to click each hole to fill it up
I have 9 images to place in those holes titled pinkcake, pinkcake2 , and so on and so forth.

the pinkcake images are each already edited into a position so that if i were to "show" them , they would be in the associated hole.

I just do not know what to do. Just act as if you're explaining it to someone who knows nothing.

My limited knowledge is as follows: (so it may be incorrect)

Place things in a screen, so in your game you call the screen.
Something like:

Code: Select all

e "I'm about to fill the cupcake pan, can you help me?"
    call myscreen
e "Great job, thanks for the help!"
For your screen, you need modal and a way to return to the game. I can think of one way but doubt its much more than a hack so won't mention it.
For the rest, you should consider using imagebutton.
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.
pro·gram·mer (noun) An organism capable of converting caffeine into code.

This tutorial is a little old, but it might start you in the right direction. If you're still confused after that, feel free to PM me. I've got some tools and tricks that might come in handy, but would make an incredibly long forum post. ^^

And in this thread is a hotspot generator tool that you can download. Incredibly useful, as you'll see once you read the above tutorial.
