This is the right place for Ren'Py help. Please ask one question per thread, use a descriptive subject like 'NotFound error in option.rpy' , and include all the relevant information - especially any relevant code and traceback messages. Use the code tag to format scripts.
Apologies if a topic like this one exists, I really couldn't find anything... So:
I've run into a problem while testing my game. Using the current version of Renpy.
When I try to launch the game from the Renpy menu, there's apparently a 50:50 chance that it will either start fine, or just completely crash. As in, when it crashes the window is white and Windows tells me python crashed, and then kills the application. But then I change nothing and try to launch it again, and it may either crash again or suddenly work. Sometimes that goes on for like 5 tries or more, other times it works immediately.
I can't say for sure when the problem started happening, but I've only been working on the current project for like a day or two in total. I made some changes in the options, gui, and screens, but when I make a typo or mistake or something there, it always tells me about the error. It doesn't show me any error when the crashing happens. The error log doesn't say anything.
It's worth noting that it seems like clicking Save in Editra multiple times without making actual changes fixes the crashes temporarily (sometimes). But that might just be a random coincidence.
Please help, this is quite distressing... I ignored the issue for a while but it's really time-consuming and annoying to restart the game multiple times every time.
It started yesterday when i installed the latest version of RENPY. I have made smaller changes to my test project (luckily only test affected), but now i am afraid to poke around in my main project, will it be corrupted?!
I have tried another old project, made smaller changes and it works, but still very concerning!
