A way to have Ren'Py make the computer emit sounds?

#1 Post by NocturneLight »

Is there perhaps a way to do this?

For example, at the most basic level, emit simple computer beeps?
Or on a more advanced level, emit morse code using a computer's sounds?
The Old Guard is at His Limit. The time is near to usher in the New Guard.

The Great Horror is soon to be free.

Clarevine is the key.

A quick Google suggests this:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/202 ... rd-speaker

Personally, I would not do this. There could be any number of reasons someone may wish to avoid having their PC suddenly beeping tunes.

My foremost concern is that you cannot control the volume of that speaker. So if someone was playing late at night and had headphones on so as to not wake the household, what do you think would happen when a god almighty loud buzzing starts up from the computer itself?
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.
pro·gram·mer (noun) An organism capable of converting caffeine into code.

The first suggestion in your Stack Overflow link is... not so great... and is pretty limited.
Yeah, I'm taking your advice and not doing that.

Back to the drawing board if there are no other suggestions.

Renpy can play audio files. So just get an audio file of beeping and have renpy play it.
Check the documentation:

A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)
