Hello !
I've created a brand new project for NaNoRenO using the (not so new now) GUI.
Actually, it's not the first time I've tested that GUi, but till now, I've always used the black versions of it. So, I decided to give the white version a go (and it seemed more suitable for my game this time).
The white version looked OK, until... I put a menu in my game. To my great surprise, the menu captions were like invisible.
After a my initial fright ("What did I break this time ?!?!") I realised that the text was white on white. See for yourself :
(Should I mention that I touched nothing in gui.rpy or anywhere else in predefined .rpy files ?)

Choice menu with 2nd choice hovered
Of course, I can (and will) change the text color of the unhovered caption (when I find the appropriate gui option), but I wonder if this concern should be adressed in the gui models ?

Re: (kind of) "Bug" in "new" gui
I get black text when selecting a white theme.

I don't know what to say. I tried to change theme several times from white to black and black to white and my menus are still like that. (latest stable renpy version)

Code: Select all
style choice_button_text is default:
properties gui.button_text_properties("choice_button")
Code: Select all
## The color of button text in various states.
define gui.button_text_idle_color = gui.idle_color
define gui.button_text_hover_color = gui.hover_color
define gui.button_text_selected_color = gui.selected_color
define gui.button_text_insensitive_color = gui.insensitive_color
Code: Select all
## The color used for a text button when it is neither selected nor hovered.
define gui.idle_color = "#000000"

This might be the problem. IIRC if you change theme only images are replaced, style properties are not changed. You need to create project with that theme in first place.change theme

That's what I did! I changed to black afterwards to see if there was any difference.
Actually, when you change theme, you're given choice between only regenerating images ord define new colors. (of course I used the second option).
Long story short, I created a new project in white version, and same thing happens. I realized that in fact, the text in not really white but a very pale shade of grey. Surrounded by a black background, it's unreadable.
demo (with newly created project) So, under these special circumstances, the very light grey color of idle menu choice is very hard to read.
Ultimately, I'll solve this problem by customizing the gui for my game, but maybe a stronger shade of grey would be more suitable for the default theme (very personal opinion)
