Ren'Py 6.99.14.3 Released

#1 Post by PyTom »

I've released Ren'Py 6.99.14.3, which fixes a few regressions introduced in 6.99.14.2, most notably one in screens that could cause problems by failing to propagate data through screen updates. (This could cause transforms to repeat, as well as other strange problems. It only manifested for displayables directly or indirectly inside for loops.)

It also fixes several other issues, and makes the AlphaMask displayable more useful.

Downloads of 6.99.14.3 can be found at:

(I hope it's okay to ask this question here in this thread.)

Under incompatible changes it says the following:
ATL Transforms now show at least one frame whenever a pause or interpolation occurs. When a game doesn't expect this, it can show up as a series of rapidly displayed singe fames. This can be disabled with:

Code: Select all

define config.atl_one_frame = False
After I updated to this version, dialogue text started to get cut off randomly after a few letters. Sometimes the dialogue window would appear empty and then continue (not resume) after a few clicks. Older Ren'Py versions still worked fine.
I don't see the connection between atl frames and dialogue text, but setting config.atl_one_frame to False resolved the issue and I wonder if this might be a bug, or, if not, what else might cause the disappearance of dialogue under this version while config.atl_one_frame is not set to False.

I can't see an obvious reason for this, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. I'd need you to send me a copy of your game that exhibits this problem within the first few clicks, so I can run it and see what's going wrong.
