How to port steam Renpy game to android?

#1 Post by ezshre » Tue Apr 10, 2018 5:40 pm

Hello, i downloaded a renpy game from steam which has the archive.rpa file and everything and want to port it to android so i can play it on my tablet.

Would anyone who knows how to do this care to give a detailed tutorial? I have tried many youtube tutorials but none of them work. I have quite a bit of Java coding experience but not python. I heard that it is quite simple to do but i just dont know what im supposed to do. I decompiled the rpa file but from there i dont know what to do, or if it is even necessary to decompile it in the first place.

The simplest (and only answer you'll get on these forums) is to explain your intentions to the creator / team that made the game and ask if they will provide an Android version.

Other alternatives include x86 emulation (usually too slow to be useable) or using a different, tablet-like device, capable of running the game.
For example, a Raspberry Pi can run x86 exported Ren'Py games (limited support and compatibility at this time. Also requires the game be Linux compatible) despite running on an ARM core CPU. This, however is still experimental and rife with bugs currently (related to hardware accelerated graphics on the Pi)
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.
pro·gram·mer (noun) An organism capable of converting caffeine into code.
