So it seems like it's worth taking a minute to say thanks to PyTom for the work on RenPy, and his continued efforts supporting it. I only hope what I've done with his tool makes him happier rather than sadder

A Public Thank You
Once upon a time I developed the first BBS program for the old Commodore Amiga, and I remember how rarely I heard from folks using it - unless they found a bug

Re: A Public Thank You
Totally. Even though I might not show a lot of what I'm doing *yet*, I've been playing with python and wokring on a project for the past year. I must say that Ren'Py definitely is part of my day to day life.
I used to search for games on linux so I could figure out how to modify the graphics so I could get a game design going. When I found Ren'Py it was like an epiphany. It's like taking comics to the next level with animations and music, but not as much work as doing a full-fledge animation. The interactive aspects really pleased me as it reminded me of the old games I used to play on my commodore 64c= back in the day.
Although I'm relatively quiet about what I'm working on (I missed the deadline last time I announced it, so I figured no more announcing until it's done!) I'm slowly learning it functions, drawing sprites and writing a script.
Thanks for making this software, thanks for making it *free* and thanks for continuing work on it.

Re: A Public Thank You
Ever since I found out abour RenPy, I have further developed those skills I already had, but were not good at (drawing, composing...) I am still far from good, but finally I have a reason to improve.
Hell, for the first time ever today I sketched something I was pleased with. I think I will eventually become able to call myself an artist, thanks to this fantastic program.
Thank you!

I too am thankful for Pytom's work on RenPy, and his continued efforts supporting it. I also share EwanG's concern that I only hope what I've done with his tool makes him happier rather than sadder. Thanks Pytom.

Re: A Public Thank You
Indeed I'm really thankful to PyTom and his efforts in Ren'Py. Though, it was almost the reason I started playing Visual Novels =D
Actually it was something like this:
- We're searching a programmer for our Visual Novel. We're planning to use Ren'Py.
At that time, I even didn't knew what a Visual Novel were o.o neither about Python. Though I'm fascinated for them until now.
Well, just wanted to say Thanks for all your hard work in Ren'Py "\(^-^)/"

Adding my thanks to the list here. You've made things worlds easier for me, plus there are a lot more games that I get to enjoy because of it.

Add me to the list. Thank you, PyTom ^_^
Making VN using ONscripter are simply too intimidating for me, you really brighten my day.

Also putting in my thanks-- Ever since playing my first VN (Kagetsu Tohya by TYPE-MOON), I've always wanted to try to make my own, but finding an engine seemed impossible-- Ren Py' became a door of infinite possibilities.

Re: A Public Thank You
Even though I still have yet to make a VN, I still want to express my gratitude as well.
When I found out about VNs, I thought to myself, "I want to make a Visual Novel too!!...But I don't know programming..." but then I found Renpy!!
So...Arigatou Gozaimasu, PyTom-sensei~!! ^w^
(*Magically warps away*)

That said, I'd like to join to these thanks. I think that my abilities in scripting, writing a VN script, drawing and others are fairly minor (if I could pick one, I'd love to draw, but I am more suited to write, I think) and his Ren'Py along with the work of other people made something - that I believed was impossible - possible.
Thank you, PyTom and I apologize for all of my future fails beforehand. I hope I can create something that you'll look upon and will be able to say "I made an engine for this!" proudly.

Re: A Public Thank You
I would like to say that as a programmer, Tom has created a wonderful engine in which many of the possibilities have yet to be explored.
As a writer I would like to say that Tom has created some of the foundation that will bring the Visual Novel market in the English speaking world to life.
For that I am ever thankful.
