Only the author can tell. Without knowing who's the author, what game you're talking about and if that's really a Ren'Py game, I can only suggest you read this old thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23283
Some things may have changed in recent Ren'Py versions, but I believe everything is well explained.
