Underline Gaps in Ren'Py 7.1.1

#1 Post by Vaccean »

I just switched to Ren'Py 7.1.1.929 today from 7.0.0.196 and noticed that text spaces now cause gaps in underlines when games are compiled, so that entire sentences cannot be underlined as usual. Compiling the game with the previous versions still renders underlines under spaces as usual. Changing the font did not help and I've noticed that even newly created test projects show this behaviour. This behaviour also seems to apply to all kinds of text, including hyperlinks.

As a quick example, text that used to look like this:

Compiled in 7.1.1 looks like this:

Is this an intended and normal behaviour in the new version?

I'd appreciate an option to allow underlining spaces if it is an expected behaviour, or help on how to possibly fix the issue in case it isn't, since I can't seem to find anything about it in the list of Incompatible Changes.

Thanks in advance.
