Noticeable loading times when a lot of images are in the scene

#1 Post by nichijoufl »

So, I'm experimenting with animations here. I'm setting up a big image with a lot of frames and a delay between them.
image animation1:
"images/animation_frame1.png"
0.05
"images/animation_frame2.png"
0.05
...

Then I just show animation1 and enjoy a smooth result. The problem is that with 40+ frames in such a scene it loads for a few solid seconds. Is there a way to optimize this?

If you are wanting to do movies, you should probably create actual movies and then place the movies or movie sprites in the project rather than trying to hand animate 40+ cells...which isn't really what ATL is designed for.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)
