[Solved] Edit file not working (can't script)

Okay so I am new to this
I cant edit script. Because windows "how would you like to open this type of file" set the wrong default.
Renpy won't let me change it. I click "script.rpy" and nothing. I've tried deleting renpy and reinstalling to no avail.

What do i do to fix this?

Hello,
Try to install atom (it's the best for ren'py I think, really, usually I use Notepad++ but for the indent Atom is really the best so I recomand this one)
Then, go in the folder of your game (not renpy, but the folder named after the project you created)
[Name of your project]>Game > script.rpy
Right click on the one you want to open (for example script.rpy), and then "open with" (if by defaut it doesn't propose atom, go on "choose an other program")

OR open Atom, File > Open file > (And then find your file)
(It should work from whathever software you are using)

Sorry if the translation are not perfect my system is in french not in english, but it should be kinda the same.

Right click on your script file and select 'open with'
Find the program you want to use and make sure 'always open this type of file with this program' is checked before continuing.

That should fix opening the file from Windows Explorer.

For Ren'Py, click on 'preferences' in the bottom right of the launcher and make sure a text editor has been set.

Thank you both. With yours and my brothers help i resolved the issue.
As thanks my first test frame.
(Just a test to prove i can use the engine. Not my art so i wont be keeping it)
