i cant launch Ren'py or any Ren'py based games

Hello,everyone! Ren'Py stopped launching for me.If I try to run the program or another ren'py games, nothing happens. No error message; no pop-up. Applications do appear briefly in Task Manager, but they quickly disappear.

Any idea what could be causing this? I have no antivirus or gamebooster programs.I tried to start the program with compatibility mode.I also tried just restarting my computer. In addition, I tried downloading the latest version of Ren'Py . None of these solutions changed anything.

I updated my drivers(audio and video) 2 days ago, before that these applications was working fine but when i try today, i couldn't open them, maybe u can help me about it.

I think you're trying to run a renpy steam game that is distributed in steam platform... if you're experimenting with other games in the steam platform, you cannot simply run them from the launcher, since any built games are not meant for editing and stuff... what you can do is just simply edit the rpy files included in that game inside the `game` folder or add any rpy files in that, the game should automatically recognize what you add upon launch. if the files are archived such as `.rpa` then you need tools for that such as `rpaExtract`, then you should be provided with the original rpy files upon using that tool.

Nothing to do with steam, all logs say that.

It looks like the games or launcher, start fine, but then instantly terminate.
How are you starting them? I assume double clicking on their .exe icon?
Can you right click that and show a screenshot of what "properties" tells you about it.

as i said, this is a game distributed in the steam platform. so by default, the dev included steam API in this so if you're running this directly and without running it from the steam launcher, then that's totally a bad idea. that's also the reason why it throws the error as its trying to find the steam API that should be included within the game. what are your end-goals here exactly? are you trying to create a mod for this game? still unsure about what you're trying to do. if you're trying to pirate it then there are plentiful sites where you can find this...

Im just trying to play it. I played it for 3 months before this error and i dont think this error based on steam because i cant launch any ren'py based games, for example i cant launch become a rock star either and this game is not distributed in steam platform. I also cant launch ren'py application.

yes, could be? BaDik is both distributed in the steam platform and as a standalone renpy game. what i said was based on the error `Importing _renpysteam: ImportError('No module named _renpysteam',)`, that line of error clearly tells that the game is looking for the steam API which is not present in the game, and steam API is only needed for games distributed in steam, and I'm pretty sure the devs won't bother putting steam API in the standalone version of it.

Check the logs of any game, even games you're still making, you'll find that line is present.
At least, I do, and none of my games are on Steam or from Steam.

When starting game or launcher, press Shift key, system settings will pop up, try changing renderer, exit and start again normally. If it helps then problem is with video driver you updated, if not then need more details, as log simple get chopped and provide no useful information.

I don't have one, there's not really enough information to tell what's going on.
The properties didn't reveal anything unusual, and I can't think of anything else that could cause this.

Nothing happened , system settings didnt pop up. If u need details, tell me and i will send you.

Open Explorer, select renpy.exe (launcher), press and do not release Shift, double click on renpy.exe, you should get attached screen, only after that release Shift key.

Try different renderers and restart launcher.
If you don't see this screen then i have no idea what is gone wrong and i don't think log file will help as renpy crashes too fast/early to tell anything useful (at least for me). Might as well rollback video driver update if it really breaks stuff for you.

I cant see this screen. I think something wrong with drivers so i will delete them with DDU and download them again.If it works, i will tell you.
