FMV doesn't play.

#1 Post by NadOtavlas » Wed Sep 09, 2020 1:54 am

When I tried to test my game after programming an FMV into it, instead of playing the video, the screen would be frozen on the last textbox it was on and have no audio playing at all. However if I click on the screen when this happens the game continues to the next thing that's supposed to happen after the cutscene. What am I doing wrong here?

The line of code that triggers the cutscene:

Code: Select all

$ renpy.movie_cutscene("testvid.avi")

I suggest that you convert you avi to webp or to something like

Ren'Py is capable of using libav (included) to play movies using the video codecs:

VP9
VP8
Theora
MPEG-4 part 2 (including Xvid and DivX)
MPEG-2
MPEG-1

and the following audio codecs:

Opus
Vorbis
MP3
MP2
PCM

inside the following container formats:

WebM
Matroska
Ogg
AVI - this doesn't really work that well in renpy depending on what codex that you are using
Various kinds of MPEG stream.
