Thanks to all the replies! The game is played through Steam, and the user is from China, so it makes sense that the pathname (perhaps the username?) includes illegal characters! Should I just ask them to change the path name then? I'll ask about the guest/admin account too! For an answer to the issue though, it looks to be a permissions error - the user doesn't have the required permissions to modify the save file.
Are they using a "guest" account, or an "admin" account?
Can you ask them where they "installed" the game and send you the file path?
They might be extracted the game to a write-protected folder, or the pathname might include illegal characters.
