I had to reinstall my operating system recently (Windows 7 sp1 x64) and now the renpy engine simply won't start. When I try to run a game the process will start but nothing pops up - no error messages, no game window, nothing at all. I even downloaded renpy itself but that won't start, either. Before I formatted I was running it just fine, so I'm thinking that maybe I didn't install something renpy needs to run?
I've installed most of the basic things I could think of, like C++ redistributables and .Net framework, but no luck so far.

Re: Trouble getting renpy games to run
I finally managed to work it out by disabling startup programs one by one. In case anyone else has this problem in the future it turned out that the realtek audio manager and its sonic suite audio tweaking thing were causing it. If you disable those while you're running a renpy game it'll stop getting in the way.
That was the last thing I expected to cause an issue...how weird.
