Jedit buffertabs bug?
Has anyone else run into a buffertabs bug in Jedit that comes with Renpy?
Basically what happens is that the names on the buffers get scrambled.. It may show "script.rpy" on the tab, but actually show "options.rpy" when clicking on it, and so on.. The only way to deal with it is to restart, whish is a pain, since I have a lot of buffers. (And I don't want to have all of them up at once either, it gets too spammy)
Has anyone else ran into this problem and solved it?
Alternatively, another viable editor? I tried the other ones on the renpy page but they were not good compared to Jedit, which search/replace function rocks..

Yeah, I've had that a couple of times when I add or remove a new .rpy
But it's not such a big deal for me, since I don't have that many buffers

Yep, I just restart. I don't see it as that big of a deal to switch editors, though.
Now all of jEdit's other problems combined ... that's another story.

Re: Jedit buffertabs bug?
I sticked on using SciTe for editing only one from many buffers. Basically I just open the .rpy file with sciTe. But when I want to edit three or more and compare them, I use JEdit.
Re: Jedit buffertabs bug?
Yes, but I've only noticed it on Mac OSX, it doesn't seem to happen (at least not so frequently) for me on Windows.Fireserpent wrote:Basically what happens is that the names on the buffers get scrambled..
I have this vague notion that it happens when I middle-click a tab to close it or use Ctrl-W, and certainly since I stopped doing those things and started using the menu's 'Close' item instead I've not had the problem again.
Also: SciTE also has pretty decent search functionality - at least I've never looked for a search function it didn't do. It's just a bit more awkward to use than JEdit's.

Re: Jedit buffertabs bug?
A workaround seems to be to edit buffertab options so the tabs end up to the left on the screen rather than the top. Which I ended up liking better anyway.. It seems to happen much more rarely now.
Getting the buffers right is important since I have so many of them...
