Yup, casual clothes are next in the list after school uniforms. Btw, if anyone needs something special for NaNoRenO/IntRenAiMo like a dress or some themed clothing, tell me now or hold your peace. I'll most likely stop churning out stuff for ALICE in 2006 and spend my time preparing/planning for my own NaNoRenO/IntRenAiMo game by then.

Honestly, I haven't been doing much on ALICE recently. The mood just hasn't hit me... and I think I'm coming down with a cold.

That's the last time I give CPR to a chicken.

I also keep thinking that there's going to be a better way of writing it, then just writing it in GTK. But I haven't yet figured out what that is. I may just have to bite the bullet one day.

So I've been doing some coding on ALICE, and I now can announce that the filenames of image files have to match the pattern:

([^_]+)_([^_]+)_([^-+_]+)(_([^-+]+))?([-+][\d.]+).png
The person coming up with the best explanation of what this means as a smiley will get their name listed in a comment in the ALICE source code.

As a regular expression, this means:
  • a doll name, followed by an underscore,
  • a category name, followed by an underscore,
  • a layer name,
  • an optional image name preceded by an underscore,
  • a plus or minus preceding a number,
  • .png
So we'll be accepting filenames like:

Alice01_Shoes_Shoe002-60.png
and
Alice01_SchoolUniform_Shirt03_Base-40.png

Hi, i'm new here and i was wondering, can anyone submit their own base and set?

Lately i've been quite uninspired(and this is making me procrastinate many gifts and drawings i have to doT_T dangit...) but this Alice thing is dragging me out of this block, apparentlyO_O
So i'm working on this: Image
It's still really rough but i'm kinda (kinda) happy with how it's turning out...considering that i usually hate shading clothes, it's a decent start XD

The base you've got there is really cute too, so if it's not possible to use many bases from many authors i'd be happy to try and draw some other clothes for her!°w°

X_X .... can we please make some regulations on how... detailed... the undressed dolls are? "Detailed" might not even be the write word... However you want to describe it, I think it's going to turn lots of people off really fast. I noticed that Eclipse had many comments about her doll on her website in this regard.

I think this could easily be resolved by just giving the dolls skin tight underwear. I think this would ease the minds of a lot of people.

What about hentai games? I suppose someone might want to make a game like that using ALICE... Perhaps ALICE could have a special feature that takes off those skin tight clothes or something- I don't know. But I think by default, all dolls should have that skin tight layer of clothing. And all pictures posted to the forums should also have that layer of clothing. (no offense Ren)

I know, I know... it's just a simple change in color of particular sections, what's the point? The point is, I can't comfortably look at nude dolls- it's just how my mind has been conditioned to work. And I'm worried that other people will see it, and be offended- I almost feel as if I have to watch my back, so no one walks up behind me and sees something "bad".

Do I think it's bad? No, not really. But it looks like it could be- and avoiding that appearance is important- Or at least I think so...

Hey, Ren... like the sample drawings. Welcome to the forum.

It will be possible to have a different base and collection of layers as part of your doll. Right now, a doll is simply a collection of files with names like:

Doll_Category_Layer_Image-42.png

Where Doll is the name of the doll, Category and Layer define the layer, Image is a picture in the Layer, and -42 is the ordering number of the image. Smaller numbers are closer to the user, so -123 is closer than -42 which is closer than -0 which is closer than +1.

Looking forward to it. Although I'd look to giving more volume to the hair (since it now seems to be the same size as the scalp) and doing something with the arms. (zombie!)

I don't have a big hangup against nudity in dolls. I'm writing ALICE as a tool for the serious game-maker, not as a toy. And this sort of half-nudity is no worse that what is seen in quite a bit of anime and manga aimed towards the teen audience.

So the dolls in doll packs can be of any shape and size?

As to clothifying the base sillouettes;
Since there are no nipples or genitals represented, it is not any where near adult material!
Consider all the items sold to and for children that represent the human form in more detail, also without aforementioned items depicted.
