So. My windows laptop is gone/fried/dead(dying). Along with my files.. (Saves bawing for later)
I'm using a Mac now and was wondering if anyone knows how to get Renpy running on said OS. In case you didn't see the title its OSX 10.3.9 Panther. Why don't I update to a newer version? It's a PPC. Meaning no PC emulation (Got Q to work though), no Intel drivers, meaning no crossplatforming windows. So yea, F me in the A.
I tried downloading the latest sdk and running the launcher and got this error:
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

So can anyone help? Need anymore information?

I'll also not that I'm not that far away from dropping support for PowerPC macs entirely. My current plan is to support them until August of next year, or thereabouts - that's 5 years from when Apple discontinued their PowerMac line. I may discontinue PPC support earlier if it proves to be an obstruction to work on other platforms.
Supporting creators since 2004 (When was the last time you backed up your game?)
Almost nobody has a PPC mac anymore, thanks to the famous Apple "let's milk our customers" policy. I think you could safely drop support for it already today without much consequences for commercial/freeware games.
I think so too... but right now, there's no difficulty in supporting OSX, so the only advantage would be the reduced size of the distribution. That actually is an advantage - but I want to wait until Apple has discontinued the line for 5 years before I go there.

Haha. Ok, thanks for the information. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard for me to work without the launcher for a while. At least until I dig up my old laptop*.
(Interesting not so important information.)
*Compaq Presario (As in old. This computer came with Win200 NT i believe)
5GB Harddrive 64mb RAM
OS Windows Home Edition
With specs like these you can see why I'd settle for a Mac right now.
My Compaq may run a little slow, but at least I know it can run Renpy fine.
