You can easily change the size/look of the text box. You can change fonts (type, size, color) and you can change the position of pretty much any interface element. Knowing where to change it is a bit trickier but the documentation gives out a few tips about it ^^. Just ask for the rest.

Welcome! The quick answer is, as monele said, you can change the look (style) of just about anything in Ren'Py. If you just want to change the look of the window behind the text, then you can just edit frame.png... but it's also possible to change many other things through the style system, like the shape and position of the window.

What's more, much of the behavior of Ren'Py is extensible, so even if it can't be made to do what you want, I can whip up a few lines of code that add in a new feature for you. But quite often, I've anticipated requests and already added them to the engine.
