The reason why I ask this is because the one MMORPG game maker went flash on me. Flash requires money. And their game maker is not a freedom game maker. Its still based on war. So, I really can't use them. The maker assumes certain things about your game. Ren'Py is MUCH better and MORE flexible. Its brilliant!
However, the other side is if Ren'Py were to be able to create games that worked on the web, then any phone, including hyper-picky apple phone could play it. The only requirement, would be that it worked on the web using web based standards. I realize that this would be a lot of work! This would still be open source.
I'm still hoping some day to be able to have a MMORPG of Jade University online that plays on all platforms because its a SIMS of Harry Potter Meets Tomorrow People without using anything copyrighted/trademarked/etc. by those owners. My friend and I always wanted to be able to play the same game at the same time, online that was something I could handle. Oh well, maybe someday.
How about a web port for online gaming? beats Apple's rules!

Oh? An online visual novel? There are groups already trying that, NovelStream and DateSim are two that I can think of at the top of my head. If you're on about a visual novel that plays like an mmorpg where thousands of players interact with each other, wouldn't that be just like one of those online social games like Gaia Online?

It would be more like WoW but without the violence. I wonder if DateSim actually works on 10.04 mac? I find MOST MMORPG do NOT allow Mac players, and, if they do allow macs, then PC can't play. Or PC and Mac but not Ubuntu. I need something that works on all 3 platforms because my mac my die at anytime and I might be able to get my ubuntu working. But, my friend is on the worships and adored PC. Everyone makes freebie gaming software for PC's, but very few make it to work on all 3 platforms.Strum wrote:Oh? An online visual novel? And no, I can't get pygame to work for me because of how the help is set up, doesn't work for my disability.
You see, my idea includes classes people take and assignments they can do. It will have lots of puzzles and games, but also role playing. Its really a game that takes the potion making part of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and brings it to an all new level, but without the Potions class. I'd use Alchemy and chemistry only because I don't want to use any thing that is HP per se. I want the universe to be completely copyrighted to me and whom ever helps me with it. Problem is, I do still have Developmental Delay Disorder, which makes programming harder for me. However, if I don't program and challenge myself but instead stick to only those things that are easy for me, my brain shuts down and I go to sleep. I've fallen asleep in the middle of a conversation.
I always wanted to run around all of hogwarts as it would really be if you were to build it for real. You look at the picture of it and you know it has to have several floors with layouts that are the same. Rooms may move in hogwarts, but in all the HP games, you only get a tiny bit of whats out there. And you can't explore all the rooms, all the classroms or dorms. I'd change all that. I'd let go of limitation where humanly possible. Thats why worlds are brilliant. You can add more to the world as you get around to it, and eventually, have the full school as you envisioned it, but without having to get it all done immediately. And, if you never do get it all done, it doesn't matter, because its still playable. MMORPG done right. Ren'Py, I'll have several mini games that together will give you the whole experience. Not the best solution, but it'll work okay.
The problem comes with importing what player bought and has at to the other games. I don't know if thats even possible, even with python. I think I'd have to use what pytom does to get ren'py to work in the first place... the behind the scenes configuration files locations. those types of scripts. beyond me at this point.

Just checked out Datesims. Sorry, but they can have their forum. Its not handicap accessible for color blindness. I mean, if you see blur when looking at red text, then you aren't capable of even making a complaint on the forum to get the text changed because you can't see anything. ROFL My eyes are still seeing spots.
