Seven...That's all I'm going to say. Started the 3-D trend of FF, had one of the most wigged out characters around, and cause I'm a fan of claymores and ultralong swords!
It's been a while, folks!

FF 3/6 is a classic 8) It's actually what got me into RPGs to begin with. Although at first I thought the battles were kind of ludicrous. "He didn't even HIT the guy with his sword! He just swung and the enemy took damage? I don't get it!"

It's 7 for me! ^^ It was my first game on the Playstation. I had a choice between a couple of games I could play first I think and I chose that one cos I figured it would be good. As I'd seen the PC version floating around and the pictures impressed me (the graphics were good back then). I loved it. When SPOILER Aeris died END SPOILER I honestly felt upset! hehe. And also I *really* didn't want it to end. I had difficulty defeating the end boss (shh) and I didn't even know it *was* the end boss. And when I beat it and the game ended I was like... wait, this is the end?? =(
I love the music, the boss music was my favourite because... I guess it just has some kind of classical powerful overture going on in it. I really loved boss battles and hearing that music hehe. The rock remix in the official Final Fantasy: The Black Mages album is great too.
The materia system was great and the limit breaks were cool. Carbuncle looked cute.
The theme park was fun and all the mini-games. The story caught my attention and had alot of variety. I loved the characters.

Umm yeah.. I liked it *alot* =D

... At first I thought this poll was "what's your favourite Fan Fiction", and I was ready to go "It has to be Rakna's Evangelionfanfics!" :D ... and then I realised!

But yeah, very tough choice between 6 and 7. 7 pioneered many things and did some great playing with reality, but 6 was such a classic plot and characters and evocative moments too...

I vote for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance! Partially because it's awesome! Partially because it's the only one I've played!

And it's also not an option : (
Woot

Hmm, you know, I don't see Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on the list, either! I know that would get SO MANY votes because it was such a GOOD GAME!

FF Tactics was cool, though 8) Only thing I didn't like was how I died about 20 times at the beginning

FF6 for me :)

But FF9 was quite cool as well though. And Mystic Quest :P

Definitely FF VII.

Not only was it the first FF-RPG I ever got into my grubby paws, but there was also the date at the "Golden Saucer" and the switches between the leading characters.

... and Yuffie, the "material girl"!

Heh, yeah! It was quite brutal XD I gave up at some point early in the game o.o; Then AGES later I finally picked it up and started over and got way past there. But err then I got distracted by other stuff and still haven't finished it >_< I do really like it though.

FFT Advance is fun too with all those quests. Haven't finished that either ¬.¬;; It's been replaced with manga reading ^^;

Woah... Now I've got Madonna's "I'm just a material girl" in my head >_< Makes me wanna do a music video with Yuffie and that Madonna song o.o Shame I got no time or resources or anything heh

How come you left I & II (the REAL II) off of the poll? Didn't you go get Final Fantasy Origins? or play the original I?

Ha HAH!!!! Cloud is now level 75 in FFT!!!!!

I think FFVII is overrated. It's good, but it 'taint the best, in my opinion. I gotta go with number 8 (*burp!*), 'cause Tactics isn't up there. What is so great about seven that can't be found in all of them since 3?

Well what people often put it down to is it was peoples first experience of Final Fantasy in the west, since it was the first of the FF series to make it over there, then when it became very popular they released the rest of the series aswell as all the ones that came before it. So it being their first experience, it's the one they cherish the most.
But really, people have their individual reasons beyond that. Sure that may be one thing though ^^
For example the materia system. The limit breaks. The Golden Saucer. Chocobo racing. The weirdness/humour (the main character in drag, the bath scene, the slap match). The plot, lots of debates go on over aspects of the plot I think. The characters, naturally are individual to each FF game, and so FF7 is no different. Cloud with his identity problems, troubled childhood and so on and all the others, you'd have to go to character shrines to see reasons for liking characters, I saw a really nice one for Cloud recently, made some interesting observations on his character. Hm I dunno... naturally everyones reasons are different... I can't list the world's reasons XD
