You know what, all this debating kind of makes me want to start a contest/festival of my own. Anyone interested?

Maybe not necessarily a contest, I just though that if this contest/festival is so restrictive, it'd be a pity if it was the only one around.

Especially since rather opposed to kinetic or simple visual novels, I'd really like to see some more innovation in the genre.

Starting your own contest turns into a huge mess if everyone all at once tries to make their own contests based on momentary whim and they all explode. If you want to run your own contest or festival I'd suggest taking some time to think about the idea and the logistics of how you'd make it work and watch how this festival turns out first, then try to get multiple people on board to agree how your contest should work, THEN announce your own once you've got solid plans. :)

I very much respect their right to make their contest and choose what rules they make. However, I do not appreciate that that would impede our own right to make a festival that suits our needs.

Aleema and Pappillon have a valid point though. I'll wish Aleema luck in convincing the hosts of this festival to change it, but if efforts prove fruitless I may still decide to host a new festival sometime in the future.

I always thought about having a Virtual Convention would be neat. Specially for such geographically far flung groups like this.

It would be a website were people could set up "tables" (web pages) to show off their stuff. They could set up a chat gadget on their page to talk to people who came to their table. I even had a way for them to digitally sign things for their guests.

Yeah Susan, that's an amazing idea XD
It would be a lot of fun, and would certainly be a lot like a convention, except virtual! Which is great, since like you said most of us are all far apart from each other.
Great idea! I hope it can happen~! hehe

Planning a VN Contest (Was: Original Visual Novel Festival)

I think I'll wait 'til after March (NaNoRenO and all) and I'll put something together.

New topic split from http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... f=4&t=9538

For the record, I think that if someone were willing to put the time and effort into running it, we could revive the Lemmy's.

I think I like the idea of a virtual convention/showcase better than another contest, but it's not my call.

This is a split topic from this thread. The original thread was about #visualnovel's VN Festival, but the topic started wandering into planning other festivals/celebrations/competitions/etc. so I split it off.
