[NaNoRenO 2011] - My Magical Cosplay Cafe (With proper CGs!)

I'd actually downloaded this one some time ago, but took my time to play it through fully until I got the true end before commenting. And even then I sat on my butt and twiddled my thumbs for a while.

What I have to say is that this VN was smashingly brilliant! I have a softspot for parody and satire, and this game kept me laughing. As I sat and read it, I thought to myself, if I were to recommend a VN to my friend, it would be this one. Nothing breaks someone into a sub culture or genre BETTER than a spoof. Some may say "But they won't get the jokes!". Aha, but when they read more serious attempts (some good, some bad) they will have those "Aaaah so that's what was being made fun of!" moments.

As for my favorite ending, I loved Kurokage's ending. The first ending I got was the boring ending because I deliberately was being mean to all of the girls at every oppurtinity.

Anyway, I think this is now my favorite noncommercial VN.

I can't seem to get the true ending though.

I try to keep all the girls happy, but whoever I choose on the last question after running out of the cafe ends up being the girl I see the next morning.

If you displease all the girls you'll get it. ^-^ And then it might unlock the true ending... I think.

Try picking "breakdance" for your first option. All the other options make at least one of the girls unhappy. >.>;;

The Breakdance end isn't really the "true" end, but it IS the "good" end and my personal favorite. Honestly, I think that whichever end you prefer should be considered canon.

I have several times yes, mostly when I am trying to balance it out to get the true ending. Anyway, will keep trying. X)

Just played through it several times. Still haven't unlocked the "true" end yet, but I'm having a lot of fun trying. Kurokage's ending is my favorite, but they're all great!

Not bad, but it feels like a missed opportunity to me.

A common problem in visual novels is that the protagonist tends to either be a inconsiderate jerk or a boring vanilla everyman. This visual novel manages to gloriously avert this problem in the awesome

breakdance

ending. However, this problem is all too present in the other endings - something crazy awesome happens, and the protagonist is too much of a wet blanket to appreciate it.

Specifically:

I can fully understand why you would avoid the loli incest ending. But why is there no awesome Yamato BL ending? Why can't the protagonist see that being turned into a demon by Kurokage is totally awesome? And even the true end could have been transformed into pure awesome if the protagonist had a thing for being rescued by/attacked by/fought over/ignored by strong women and strong men who dress as women, instead of whining about how he can't be a main character.
