Vote!Amaya or Arisu?

Amaya means rain or something, right? And Arisu is a japanese version of the name Alice?

I do think Alice is pretty common these days considering the popularity of the Alice in Wonderland stuff. Arisu might be a bit more original than that, but I'm thinking Amaya is the way to go.

I think Amaya is usually used for surname (天谷）
There's even a cooking school in Japan called Amaya...

Ama can be used for heaven/ sky/ rain/ sweet etc, depends on the kanji.

I don't know... Amaya Maeda sounds a bit strange to me... Arisu Maeda..... or maybe Arisa Maeda? Risa Maeda? (ups I guess I just make a new name here ^^;;;) But well Arisu is better for first name than Amaya.

I do agree with Chu-3 I have a classmate with his name, Ren Amaya or 天谷　連. Arisu is originally an english name and doesn't really fit much to japanese names(i think).

Wait. Are you using the family name first or the given name?

In Kanji, Japanese wrote the family name first, then the given name. This is used too in the Japanese conversation.
But, if you need to write down your name in alphabet, Given name will come first, and this is applied too in English conversation.
Ex: Watashi no namae wa Amaya XXX desu. >> in English, Japanese will speak "My name is XXX Amaya." (Amaya is the surname)
In a Japanese passport, you'll see the surname behind the given name too, in the alphabet writing.

First, I found name Amaya on Google and it says that that's girl name, second, yes Amaya means night rain while Arisu is japanese version of Alice. Fourth name Amaya or Arisu is given name. And here's the url to picture:

Well, what's her personality like? If she's dark, tomboyish or something along the lines then calling her Amaya would be better - unless you want the irony of calling her Arisu which is usually associated with cute, moe girls and (typically due to Alice in Wonderland) fantasy.

Well her parents want her to be girly but she isn't. She's cold, a little mean and popular because of her cold personality.
