Shizuna is just a girl who wishes to become one thing - a famous pop idol! And for that reason she has moved from her small hometown to the big city, working her way up by working in an idol-themed maid café as well as balancing college life. Of course, her life as an up and coming idol hasn’t been perfect - some café patrons like Akio are a bit of a nuisance, and dealing with her tutor Chihaya is annoying - but she’s willing to deal with them for her dream. But what about Misaki, the boy she bumps into while playing in the arcade? What could he, and the two other boys have in store for Shizuna’s future?
Characters
“Everyone has a dream. Mine just happens to be a big one.”
Shizuna Tachibana
The main character. Shizuna’s a pretty friendly person, and loves to sing for others. She’s known for being very serious about her dream, but also believes in starting out small and is working at the maid café to become a kind of ‘local favorite’ before getting really involved in the music business. Also, she’s still in university, so school is somewhat of a priority (even though she has no intention of using her degree).
Shizuna’s not really good with boys and is a little abusive towards them, but she doesn’t mean any harm. She tends to see boys more as regular people or friends rather than love interests.
Besides pursuing a music career, she seems to have another reason to be in the city.
She won’t mention it to anyone unless they are close to her.
----
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll always keep trying, even if the whole world is against me.”
Misaki Endou The shy but determined boy that Shizuna meets at the local arcade before heading to work. He may be quiet at first, but he warms up to people easily and converse about anything. Like Shizuna, he is someone who came from a smaller town and is fascinated with the different aspects of city life, though Shizuna has no idea what his purpose is besides trying to win an orange platypus from a crane machine game.
He seems to know something about music, and is often expressing his concern for Shizuna’s safety as a girl in the big city.
----
“You’re better off taking life as it is.”
Akio Kirishima
A frequent patron of Midnight Project, the café where Shizuna works. Akio tends to request Shizuna as his maid, and irritates her like nothing else. He loves to tease the girl, often comes to the café drunk, and most importantly, does not take singing seriously (as proven during the monthly karaoke nights). However, he’s actually a good natured person, filled with wisdom as a long time city dweller, and comes to Shizuna’s aid when need be (or not).
Shizuna isn’t aware why Akio takes such a liking to her, but is willing to make sure she has him as her ‘master’ so the other maids don’t have to deal with him.
----
“We’ll always need to change. There’s no reason to accept yourself for too long.”
Chihaya Kurosawa
Shizuna’s classmate, math tutor, and neighbor, who she (to his dislike) calls Kurocchi. He’s serious about everything. Shizuna doesn’t really like him, but due to her busy work schedule, she hasn’t really had enough time to develop more friends at her university, so she’s kind of stuck with him. For whatever reason, Chihaya gets upset when she threatens to stop getting tutored because of his attitude, which Shizuna uses to get him to do something for her. He also works part time at a bakery and Shizuna likes to take food from him.
Something that bothers her is how he is unwilling to tolerate otaku, since Shizuna meets some occasionally in and outside her work. He also does not like it when Shizuna touches any of his technology....
