Christmas Music!

#1 Post by Dollywitch »

In response to this rather depressing image;

And to the general global mood at the moment, I have decided to record a punky Christmas song.

Feel free to partake in the posting of Christmas songs that subvert from the normal 50s or 70s stuff.

Hasn't Mariah Carey's "all I want for christmas is you" become a Christmas staple? Also, that horrid song that goes "Santa, baby ..." And all you have to do is turn on Pandora and browse their various Christmas x Genre stations to find loads of winter/holiday themed songs that don't rank in the top 20. Couldn't really stomach most of it, though. A lot of what makes Christmas songs great is that they're part of tradition. Since I wasn't alive when they were created, they've just always been a part of Christmas, so my brain probably rejects new stuff.

I would just like to use this thread as a platform to voice my hatred of the Beatles' 'Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime'. It is not only the absolute worst Christmas song, but it is the worst song. Ever.
This isn't helped at all by the fact that they play it in stores and on the radio perpetually.

Furthermore, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause loses all of the original context when you have an older human singing in a sultry voice. It becomes a creepy song about cheating on your spouse with a mythical being.

Here's a Christmas song I made 2 years ago. It is still 100 times better than the beatles song.

This remains probably my favorite Christmas song… Also love that "All I Want For Christmas is You" song.

I actually prefer the more faith-based music to Frosty or Santa songs. I like it better...but I like to listen to Christian rap too--a lot of people may be like "what?!?!"...but its actually very good and has a good meaning in it rather than drugs sex and money..the meaning behind it goes much beyond those--if you want to listen to any just look up these artists on YouTube:
Lecrae
Tedashii
Flame
Trip Lee

My only question is
Where my present?
She says she's got a gift for me
That ain't for the kids to see
I prefer my Christmas songs with Kanye West and G.O.O.D. music in them.
I just can’t sit any other way than this. If I sit the way other people do, my reasoning ability drops by 40%.
