Gender:
o Male
Do you also play Boy x Girl games?
o Yes
Style:
o Visual Novel (preferred)
Genre:
o Either, if it's interesting enough.
If BL, playable character should be:
o Uke (“Submissive” character, gets romanced)
I think being hard-gay (seme) would be interesting... but also maybe a bit too far of a stretch to stick with.
If Otome, a female love interest and/or yuri scenes would be:
o Pursued.
Setting:
o Modern (Usual, set on the present)
o Scifi (Technologic, set on the future)
For the love of God and all that is holy, no more medieval fantasy. Modern fantasy is alright, I guess... hey, let's just change that to no more stuff set further back than 1920. We grew out of times like those for a reason; namely, they sucked.
Mature content:
Either way... it's a-okay with me.
Rate:
Tied for 1st: Story (plot complexity, multiple story lines)
Tied for 1st: Art (number and quality of sprites, cgs)
3. Character (design, likability) :: Wouldn't character design be under art?
Absolutely unimportant: Gameplay (interactivity, lots of options)
(Without both a good synopsis and good art, I will hesitate to play a game regardless of rave reviews.)
What kind of art style pleases you? Do you like anime, realistic, cute, cell shading…?
Anything but realistic. People who knock cel shading (not "cell" as in telephones and biology) are just jealous they can't be awesome like Zelda: Windwaker.
When pursuing a character-
o Character Design
o Personality
Both, obviously. But I tend to go for my second-favorite first and my favorite last, to start and end strong. Take that as you will.
What kind of looks attract you? (glasses, muscles, hair color, etc.)
In guys? Glasses, modest musculature I guess. Grown men, not boys. Or at least boys that LOOK like grown men. My girlfriend was recently ranting about how anime guys all look too girlish, and after I showed her a few samples, the only guy she liked was Fuminori from "Saya no Uta"... v.v after I told her the story, she took that back.
What are the personality traits that attract you? (mean, kind, teasing, flirty, etc.)
Tsunderes (kinda like the "mean" listed there) piss me off, male or female. Energetic types (genki) are alright as long as they aren't tsundere like Haruhi fucking Suzumiya, but they generally annoy me also. I could get into a guy that flirts with you and then turns and flirts with every other female character in the game... but that's probably only because I'm that way! Otherwise, the quiet, strong guy that obviously doesn't need to interact with you (and would rather go back into his own world) yet is still friendly and sociable is a good one.
