In any case will have an option to remove the sexy scenes completely so the game can be played by anyone.
I'd write softcore sex scenes, not porn. Something you'd expect in an R-rated movie or trashy romance novel. Anything more would be awkward and forced in this game, trust me. Since Jack wants 2 settings, perhaps there can be a really explicit version, but I figured the sex would be just heavily implied in the "safe" version, and then staying with the couple for the "unsafe" version -- as opposed to softcore vs hardcore.

The situations themselves are pretty hot as it is. The CGs are nice, y'all.

Thanks Aleema for explaining better what we've in mind for the romance scenes. Just one more screen showing the quest subscreen working and that there are also muscular handsome men in the game, not just hot girls:

Umm..I don't know if you have already chosen a background for the title screen, but I suggest you use the 3rd one for the 'clean' version; and the 2nd one for the 'dirty' version. ^__^

The 2nd one implies fantasy, adventure & romance~ (I'm not saying the other 2 don't :3) But it does quite imply that there are to be some things you would not expect. :D
The 3rd one expresses fluent captivating beauty of nature, as well as a bit emphasizing on the cartoonistic features of the game, it's also cute in my opinion :3

Oh! An Idea popped out of my mind! XD How about making the clouds move? 8D And the smoke coming out of the cute mini-mushroom house too!~ X3 And the lights-..

Wait...-zips her mouth- 0__0 I think that's hard to do..

I'm not going to use any of those, I found a style that matches the character art:
Image
As for the title screen will show a first person view of Loren with two swords ready to fight. So this time nobody can say that the game has a weak protagonist (even if effectively Loren is not the playing character).

Hey Jack! I'm eagerly awaiting this RPG and was hoping I could ask a few questions:
1. When can we start pre-ordering it?
2. Who's the artist?
3. Is this the one with the Cristina Vee song?

I've already set aside money for this RPG, so sorry if I seem impatient! It looks great and if it is as fun to play as Planet Stronghold, I know I'll love it :)

1. I am aiming mid/end January, but have to see if all the real-life mess I'm having now will let me do it... but the writing is at very good stage at least!
2.Artist is some korean guy (jun kung-something) but he went to work as pro mangaka in Japan rightly after he finished the task, so sadly that's the only game that will have his art :(
3. yes, the song is ready but for commercial/promo reason I need to wait until the "official game release". But it's MUCH better than Always Remember Me song IMHO! (is more pop-rock)

...and thanks for your support!

About 10 days later, I have what I consider the almost-final battle layout:
Image
I like how I managed to display a LOT of information on the screen. The left part shows up only when you hover the mouse on any enemy/party member's portraits. So you can quickly inspect the status without any clicking. Then if you click, you can open a new window to perform various actions, depending who is the active party member and who you clicked on. For example if you click on an ally you can only perform certain actions like using a potion, switching place or using a buff/heal skill. If you click on an enemy you can attack through various means, physical attacks, skills, spells.
I can't wait to have the battle finished so I can start working towards the first beta of the game. I think I'll need 3 months of holidays after I finish this one though!!!!!

That's looking pretty good already. I think it's pretty clear that you're not done polishing the info in the bottom-left corner. May I suggest that it's important to have either some texturing or some color coding to draw people's eye into the right place, to make it that much easier to scan over the information?

How fixed is the move order? Is it a D&D style order, where each character has a fixed place, or is it more like Final Fantasy X, where there's a priority queue that characters move down based on how expensive their attack is?

Yes, I plan to do something similar to what Aleema did when she helped me to restyle the character equipment screen:
Image
have each stat in a frame, or use different color, or align them so is easier to read. It won't be easy since there's a lot of information to be displayed. Also as you can guess even the icons are temporary (Resist, Weak, etc).

It's like FF. It was a suggestion of Anima (the RPG framework coder) and I think was a very good one. I wanted to use a Fallout-like AP (Action Points) system, but this one is simpler and probably manga-fans are more used to it (I admit the last FF I played was FF7 on the PSX!!).

So I have the FINAL GUI:
Image
Obviously, FINAL until I start the open beta, hopefully later this month. Then I'm sure will have to change it again
On the top-left of the screen you now see the character negative effect on the left, and buffs on the right. Of course this is an "extreme test" - in the real game it's almost impossible to have ALL those negative effect at the same time active on any of your party members!!

Now I have only to wait for some missing code from Anima (after battle, looting and levelup the most important screens missing) and then the beta testing can begin. Meanwhile will make a video of the combat :)

Some big progresses made today! The "post battle" or "loot" screen:

and even the Level Up screen is finished:
Image

I've also decided to reduce the battlefield to 3x2, so that we have max 6 vs 6 battles, and make the actions interface more intuitive. End of month is approaching! :)

I like that shirtless hunk there. Very old-school Fabio/John Carter. Is this all done in renpy?

Also at least one muscular female is necessary as the cornerstone of any jungle-people society. Please tell me there will be a muscular female.
