I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Rika, sometimes called Rika-chan. I found Ren'Py through Blade. It's a little sad, I had no idea that there were free visual novel makers out there. (I did look, but not under the correct terminology, I suppose. 'dating sim game maker' doesn't bring up anything. I didn't know enough to use "ren'ai.") But at least I found it now, and can use it for all my ideas.
I probably won't be a prolific poster, but it's nice to have a community to visit and help promote your work. I have a few ideas for stories already; although they're only kinetic novels, I hope people will enjoy them anyway.

good to know we are still getting people coming here who are actually going to do something. But at least I found it now, and can use it for all my ideas.

So that's why I couldn't get the ignition to turn all this time!!!mikey wrote:Anyway, this is a great forum, because we established that visual novel engines are not cars.
Maybe this was worded poorly, or I'm just reading into it too much. But we HAVE been doing stuff!Megaman Z wrote:good to know we are still getting people coming here who are actually going to do something.
That's a good piece of information - it could prove handy when we want to promote the community more. *tucks it away*Rika-chan wrote:It's a little sad, I had no idea that there were free visual novel makers out there. Miko: Hey, Rika-chan, you didn't tell us what you think about mushrooms!
Thanks for all the welcomes, everyone. It helps me feel more ... welcome.
Oh, right, mushrooms. I like mushrooms. The little white button mushrooms are pretty versatile, but personally, I love shiitake. That strong flavor is unlike anything I've ever tasted before.
Oh, good. Being a newbie, I didn't want to come in and tell you guys how to do things, but I did pick up on the fact that you're trying to promote yourselves, so I thought I'd hint about the fact that you were hard to find.Blue Lemma wrote:That's a good piece of information - it could prove handy when we want to promote the community more. *tucks it away*

it's just that on a majority of the forums I frequent, I see a large amount of users with no posts whatsoever. they just sign up and do absolutely nothingBlue Lemma wrote:Maybe this was worded poorly, or I'm just reading into it too much. yeah, this site doesn't seem to have too much publicity. I'm already kinda talking with the admin of another forum over the possibility of adding a renai section, and if that happens, that's a whole group of people that might be making some renai games (which could be a good thing or a bad thing. they will, however, know about this site.).

That's pretty normal for a lot of forums. Besides those who sign up to post once then move on, there those lurkers who have automatic log-in. Kinda like IRC.Megaman Z wrote:it's just that on a majority of the forums I frequent, I see a large amount of users with no posts whatsoever. they just sign up and do absolutely nothing
And I'm guilty of that too, except that the forum I'm registered at without posting is a porn one. ..yep just to grab that attachments

that's 175 members with no posts (over 1/5th of the total number of registered posters) [at post time]. granted, I've seen larger numbers before (on one forum, out of around 300 members, only five had even one post. I can't find that forum anymore for some reason).
also, nobody seemed to notice I snuck past 666 posts... or they didn't care.

Mm... I've signed up at a couple of modelling forums in the past just so I can get the forum software to tell me which topics I have and haven't read - it's not that I don't want to talk about modelling, just that I already belong to three forums where I'll actively participate in modelling discussion, and there's only so much time in the day!DaFool wrote:That's pretty normal for a lot of forums. Boy howdy!
Oooohhh emmm geee! You're alive Lemmy! I had thought you'd gone and floated off somewhere. I don't know if you remember who on earth I am (timbrockhoff@hotmail.com, ring any bells?). Whatever happened to Tales of Lemma 2? Just kind of... fizzled out? Anyway, get back to me.. or don't, whatever

If one man speaks out in a crowd against everyones opinion...Who will be remembered? The one who spoke his mind, or the millions that spoke against him....

I don't think I've ever seen that locked topic. So I'm guessing you were active long before I registered here darknight?
How do you make your games? I see. Thank you for the prompt replies, but it is my considered opinion that you're doing it wrong inefficiently because I am a perfushenal professional. Do it my way this way and we can all ascend VN Nirvana together while allowing me to stroke my ego you will improve much faster. Also, please don't forget to thank me for this constructive critique or I will cry and bore you to death respond appropriately with a tl;dr rant discourse of epic adequately lengthy proportions. - Sarcasm Veiled in Euphemism: Secrets of Forum Civility by lordcloudx (Coming soon to an online ebook near you.)
