applegirl wrote:A visual novel about a battle royale? Awesome. I get a bit of a Hunger Games feeling when reading the first post, but that is a very good thing (a good series to be linked to imo). Very nice GUI too. Hmm...I haven't read the guide because I'm not sure how spoilerish it is (also, I feel like it'll make me really want to read this and I'm not sure when it'll be finished.) But yeah, very nice. I can't help but shake the feeling that the true end will be very depressing (when you compare it to having a good ending), but I'm a bit of an odd type that actually likes the sad endings in the visual novels with good stories/writing. So yeah, I'm in favor of the true ending if the good ending goes against what you see for this visual novel.
+1 THG mention. I haven't said this in this thread before, but I should say now: major inspiration for this game comes from Killer Queen, which is what inspired me to make VNs in the first place, though after reading THG, some of it's elements were dissolved into the story. (Also, the reason I did this instead of finishing the stoy that, story-wise, comes after this is because I wanted to use up anything that I would have picked up from Killer Queen and THG and make the piece more original).

And to be honest: I think the Good End is more depressing than the true end, since
you see the mental and physical downfall of one of the key characters.
And the only reason I call it a "Good End" is because
the major couples in the story get their happy ending after having to go through Hell for it.

Quoted from my blog
As I have been shown the error of my ways by the otome crowd, I hereby announce a new side story to Death Rule:
Image
Summary
Another time, another “Game”…

After taking a heavy blow to the head, Tinasa awakes to find herself….in a high school?

“What the Hell is going on?”

To add to her dilemma, those she met while in the 44th game are also here, but they’ve changed. Abraham has become her science teacher, George has turned into a hotshot jock, and Dwight seemes to have filled out nicely as well as becoming a hardcore geek. One of these three holds the key to her return, but she dosen’t know which one. The only option left for her is to get close to them and pray for the best. This is a new type a game, one we know very well, for when you bring two people together, perhaps even love can blossom.

Statistics

3 Romance paths

1 Secret Girl’s Love path

20 CG’s
If anyone actually falls for this, I swear to God I'll actually make this

Say, would any of you be interested in a short demo? Or would you all rather wait until the gane is done?

I'd want a demo, mainly because I've been waiting for a horror visual novel like this one for a long time. The demo would just be the first chapter of the game, right? That sounds good to me. But if the demo would be an incomplete chapter one, then I can wait.

Im currently debating between letting people read the Second Episode (Which is shorter and a seperate storyline from Episode One) or letting people read the first day of Episode One.
BTW: Episode One is written by me, while Episode Two is by armornick

*whispers back* Personally, I don't like demos since they make me die a little inside when I finish them.
On a whole though, I think it would allow you to find out what the general public think of it so far.
Overall, it's up to you :)

For the demo, I decided to let you guys read the episode called "False Execution" and the first day of "Exoneration" (Which is about a third of the whole game. And for those who play the demo, a bonus awaits them in the full game.)

Also, screenshots:

Ok, that last one isn't supposed to be taken serious, I was just having fun with the sprites ;^;

You know, getting my script proofread has taught me a valueble lesson: work harder on your writing style and make sure you've removed any incomplete scenes before sending it over.

On a positive note; I've begun the final coding for the demo, and should be ready sometime in the next couple of weeks (Hopefully, if possible, maybe even next weekend). Backgrounds and the like have already been finished as well.
