Who is your favourite character of all times, and why?
Basically, I'd just like to know who's your favourite character, and why.
Not from any specific place, mind you. He/she can be from any place/medium at all. He/she can exist in real life, fiction, a TV show, a manga, an anime, a video game, a book, anything at all.
I'll go first.
My favourite character is Hinamori Amu from Shugo Chara!.
You can understand her, and the things and the way she reacts is quite believable. She's one of the best female protagonists, in my opinion.
She's not always a damsel in distress, but neither is she always strong and brave. She doesn't keep putting herself down (like some other female protagonists who are amazing at almost everything and yet suffer from seriously low esteem), but she also isn't over confident. She's also kind, but it isn't taken to extreme lengths. She tries her best, but she does get her butt handed to her sometimes.
Basically, what I like about her is she's flawed, and easy to empathize with.
I came up with the idea of this topic when I wanted to know how to create a character. My brother pointed out to me that all my characters I created were either like a mirror image of me, or who I wanted to be. In his own words, "It's kinda sad, really." FFFFUUUUU that punk.
So I decided to see what character you guys would like, and it somehow turned into this.
Well, yeah. Feel free to leave your comments and thoughts.

Manuel I Komnenos, Basileus ton Rhomaion. Badass Orthodox knight. Good emperor. Great commander most of the time. The last true son of the Byzantine imperial line before it tumbled into the travesty of the next few centuries. On that same line, Constantine IX Palaiologos. Man's not dubbed "King under the mountain" and canonized for nothing.
Failing that, Skantarios Laskaris from "I Am Skantarios! Rebirth of the Roman Empire" or King Floris of Holland from "Me, Floris" are both acceptable fictional replacements. Charismatic leaders, having the balls to take the fate of the world into their hands and shape it according to their will.
That, and maybe Ulm-kun from "Glory for Ulm: A Flagland AAR". The closest the Paradox forum could get to tolerating chibi anthropomorphic personification of a country (well, city-state, but you get what I mean).

My favorite character is Francis York Morgan from Deadly Premonition. One of the best, or at least most interesting, protagonists in a video game I've seen.

York is perhaps one of those few memorable video game characters that stays in your mind long after you finish their games. He's just that awesome
Isn't that right, Zach?

My favorite character would have to be Nenene Sumiregawa from ROD: the TV.
The main reason I like her so much is because she shows that you don't have to have ultra-cool superpowers or be totally awesome at fighting to be strong. She is easily one of the most badass characters in the show without throwing a single punch.

Re: Who is your favourite character of all times, and why?
Ashitaka, from Princess Mononoke is a favorite of mine, but I have a bias towards that movie. He's pretty much my role model, you know, if he was a wannabe scholar in the modern age (I'm too young to be an actual scholar, as far as I'm concerned).
Also fond of:
Nick Carraway (The Great Gatsby)
Heiwajima Shizuo (Durarara)
Karen Eiffel (Stranger than Fiction)
Ashirogi Muto (yes, both of them. Bakuman)
These are less role models (The two from Bakuman are) than characters that are really awesome.

I cannot decide between The Doctor from Doctor Who or Muska from Castle in the Sky.
The Doctor is a very heroic figure. Eccentric, funny, and mysterious in all his lives.
Muska is one of the only truly evil character in Miyazaki's canon. He has served as the inspiration for one of my own characters!

My favourite character is me, I was able to outsmart Gustavo Fring and take over his empire. I was able to do this because I respected the chemistry.
You think I'm in danger? Skyler, I am the danger.

I have quite a few favourites, but I'll just say one. Dr. Nicolas Rush from Stargate Universe. He's just so interesting, I find myself trying to read his every expression.
