Public Domain - Emotion signs

#1 Post by DeeKay »

I haven't come across lots of VNs doing this kind of stuff, briefly showing an exclamation point when a character is surprised for example.
I was reminded by playing the Persona series and since then I was wondering about it.

Maybe people didn't think about it before, no one bothered trying or it wasn't worth it. Either way, you can try that kind of stuff out with these images now if you want as I'm releasing them under the public domain.
Feel free to get inspired by them and coming up with your own, you're not restricted to VNs.

Just point me to a finished product if you ever use them, I'd be happy to see them in use ^^

I've been wanting to use emotion signs in my game for a while now, so thank you for these! You may see them in my upcoming project :)

Cool ! Oh, before I forget, let me know if they are too shiny. I'll upload a version with less light action going on if that's the case ^^'

These are awesome! At the moment I'm not in charge of coding anything, but I'm definitely going to keep these in mind for the future. Do you have any restrictions about commercial projects?

Public domain works are defined as "whose intellectual property rights have expired, been forfeited, or are inapplicable," so in that context, it certainly sounds like you can use them for commercial works. If this isn't what the DeeKay wishes though, he might want to look into the various CC licences to find the one that fits his wishes best.
(All projects currently on a hiatus of sorts. I blame life.)

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.

NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

That's why I figured it would be better to just ask. Quite a few people explained their opinion of commercial despite it being included in their creative commons choice.

Yup. People have got to be more careful when licencing their stuff!

The main thing I was leaning towards was whether or not s/he wanted credit in a commercial release anyway.

I should have made myself clearer. I don't mind if these are used on commercial projects, there's no need for my permission nor do I need to be credited for these.
Given time, most people can reproduce them or make their own anyway.
I'm just curious as to how people will use them really so knock yourselves out ! :)

But that's not stealing since I'm giving these away xD
I could try to do some more or maybe try to do them in a different way ? I don't know, really... I'm open to any kind of advice for these.
