It's odd, but I use a thesaurus to find equally odd synonyms for elements and such, although naming your characters things like Zephyr and Aether can only fit in certain situations. Having a simple Japanese dictionary could help, like the Kotoba app for iOS, but it's not as if your characters have to have meanings that align. I usually browse around online when I'm stuck, but I've concocted a batch of odd names just by overthinking.

Well your given a choice, look up a random name generator or find one Meaningful Name that describes your character in a single word.
"Ryu" will almost always related to a dragon or BE a dragon and have a fire motif.
