YES...hands are a mystery to me... I keep drawing hands but each time I'll be butchering it again. >_< probably more practice.

I actually found your BGs really adorable. I was suddenly reminded of Mary's lovely drawings in Ib. :D

I'm awful at lineart. Zoomed-out, it looks just passable but upon closer inspection there are gaps and ticks and overlaps everywhere. It's pretty sick (in the bad way)

Judging from your art on your wip thread, I'd say you could probably do decent BGs if you just put in the time. How long did it take you to do that image in the first post? I bet if you just doubled the time you spent on it it would look much better ;)

As for me, I suck pretty bad with composition OTL But this is my own fault for not practicing it very often.....

From what little practice I have, my statement would globally be the same.
I am patient though, I just wish I could spare more time on this.
I also need to train so I can keep focusing on drawing longer to reduce the amount of breaks between sessions ^^'

Bwahaha well, your candle looks really good at least <3 Actually, though, you're not off to a bad start. Quite a few artists block in exactly how you did to make pictures. Like seriously - giant blobs. Then they spend countless hours defining further. Just saying, you may think you're terrible, but spend a little more time and you'll see something different.

I'm okay at backgrounds, I guess. I do well with landscapes, but I hate hate hate indoors. If your perspective is off just a little, everything looks wonky. Landscapes are a little more forgiving in that aspect. I also have a hard time with toenails and fingernails - well, feet in general, too, though lately something's clicked with them and I think I'm starting to get how they work.

I'm really terrible at BG too.... though it might look better if I actually would have enough motivation to finish it.....

It's such a pain to construct perspective :( Iguess I'm simply to lazy ... :x
It is only when you stop looking for nowhere that you find that such a place exists. It hides within a small stitch in time between here and there, a grain of sand trapped within eternity, forever suspended within that moment of existence.

What your missing is Edges and lines. Just slap some lines on it and you should be golden.

I'm flattered you made a whole thread dedicated to anything I put on paper that isn't a word :'D

But uh, I still have no idea how shading and clothes wrinkles work. I still need to look at those perspective tutorials I hoarded up, maybe I should try BGs instead... or stick to writing. I think the latter option would be the safest.

Glad to see that there are others that feel like I do. I thought this thread would be a fun place to just come and laugh at ourselves.

Now: I CAN make a good background if I TRY, but I generally don't feel like trying. The worst part of the images above was that I knew I would be making them quickly, but I still actually TRIED to make them look somewhat good... and uhh... yeah, not so much.
