GUI problem for beginner .

#1 Post by Daistarir »

Hey , everyone .
This time I am not being dumb.
Okay . I'm starting to do my own GUI for practicing .
But I don't know which progam to design a GUI and the basic stuff to design.
So if anyone know , please tell me . -3-
I have :
-Photoshop Extended CS6 / Illu CS5
-GIMP
-Manga Studio 4.0
-openCanvas
-Sai
-TwistedBrush.
-SketchUp
Which progam should I use/download ? What do I need to design ?

Illustrator must be the best I heard of, but I never get used to this tool... now I even hate to try it (ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻
Use Photoshop. I've used Gimp because of usefulness default scripts, but If you made certain actions with photoshop, I'm sure photoshop is better.

GIMP can be just as useful as PS once you've learned the 'tricks' of it. It has almost all the same tools (Minus a couple. And that the line and curve tool were merged into the paths tool) and can open/use some PS elements and use them. I do all of mu GUI's in GiMP.

Filters are same, or I'd say Gimp's filter is a bit superior. But action is the key difference here. Gimp can't record processes without scripting. I'd use Gimp for the first thing, but don't want to reproducing same processes at the next.

I'm finding inkscape to be very useful for graphic work.
It uses vectors, so it is uber easy to go back and change sizes without worrying about redoing everything.
You can easily shuffle things around, and reorganise.
It is free has a few quirks, and has the occasional why, why why?? moments but is a very powerful tool.

Photoshop is Pro-Tier stuff. All those tools/items/etc. are overwhelming to a beginner, and most are pretty much useless unless you're becoming a fullblown artist.

@Hijiri : I am getting used to Sai but still I am a total beginner with Photoshop.
Beside ... I am a tranditional artiat so lineart and color on Photoshop are too much for me.
Guess I'm going to use other progam.
How do you do an animation text box?
