Damn I love the GUI, it's so pretty.

I am not an artist, but the characters' necks seem unnaturally long, especially Remy's. Get a second opinion though, cause like I said I probably don't know what I'm talking about. ^__^

Thanks, it's still a big work in progress but it's coming along. I'l get that second opinion about the necks. Want to make sure they look decent before I get too deep into making the sprites.

Here's another small update:

The game contains 333 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 5,128 words,
for an average of 15.4 words per screen.
The game contains 18 menus.
And in other news I'm on the hunt for a programmer to help me out with a few aspects of the game. If anyone is interested please feel free to check out my Recruitment Thread.

Still not 100% happy with the main menu. It just looks rather boring...any suggestions? I though adding in some color would help lift the design some since it seemed heavy.

Added in rough sketches for some of the minor cast. <br />Millie-Abby's' mother. Owns the inn where the Bartlet's' live.<br />Willow-Abby's' friend. Owns an art gallery in town.<br />Dani- A tough lady who works at the local beauty salon.<br />Cypress- Willow's little sister who recently graduated from high school. Works at the cafe.

Just happened to stumble upon this thread... and you got yourself an instant fan! Although~ seems like it's been a few months since the last update... please continue this project! The story and gameplay seem really cool and the characters and GUI designs look fantastic! I really want to play this game once it's finished! >.<

I hope to see you around as more progress is made! I actually updated with more info last week and started the thread last month so it hasn't been that long. I'm making strides to completion bit by bit and am glad you're looking forward to future updates.

Well great! There are a few other projects floating around the thread so maybe it got lost in the crowd. Either way I'm glad you found my little home on LemmaSoft. ^^

Working on the GUI a little and here's a preview for it. Still have a few screens to make but it's getting there. And I still haven't settled on a logo design. I just feel like once I have that all designed then everything will look more cohesive. I can't tell you how much I dislike the default GUI...ugh. I've also started on designing the interface for when you want to access game stats and work. It will look like a computer screen with various buttons where you can see the Calendar, Emails, Project List and Character stats.

Oh wow, that looks amazing! Personally I like the logo on the right. The addition of an underline and something on the bottom looks very nice, and the bottom design sort of makes it match the light house in symmetry.

It also works well since you have that design worked into the GUI already, so it ties that in a bit better than if the logo did not have it.

I agree with the logo on the right. Seems more balanced that way. =)

Thanks! I really like the one on the right as well. I worried that it was too busy but after reading your comments I think it'll work just fine.

I appreciate your kind words so thank you very much! Many people tend to like the strip lol. I;m glad I left it in from his original design.

Speaking of Kristian here are some rough ideas for his winter and work clothes. Not 100% happy with his winter clothing scheme colors so I'm on the hunt for a better pallet. Kristian works at an electronics store as a tech specialist so the design for his uniform is a mix of Apple Store/ Geek Squad. I'm pretty happy with it so there are no plan to change it for now. I'm really liking his little ponytail. ^^

HIGHLY appreciative.

Looking at his winter clothes, the only thing that looks funny is the scarf to me. I attribute orange with fall, not winter, so it seems strange to me.

I'm glad you like his work uniform. I'm partial to it as well. It's my favorite look for him so far. I think you're right about orange being a more fall color. I'm going to play around with it some more and see if I can come up with something better.

Made a little more progress since the last update. Here are the rough designs for Dorian and Giovanni. Dorian is the towns' mayor and is Abbys' older brother. Like most brothers he likes to tease his sister and often comes off as being a jerk. Giovanni needs a lot of work but I just wanted to show what little I have done so far.

Script snippet of Dorian,Abby and Willow interaction. All characters are defined by the first letter in their name. N is short for Narrator/Internal Dialog.
N"I let my head thud back down on the counter top. Maybe if I ignore him he'll go away and leave me to mope alone in peace."
A"Not now Dorian. I'm in no mood for any of your games."
D" No need to bite off my head little sis, I was just trying the lighten the mood in here. What are you doing, anyway?"
A"Trying to throw Wil a birthday party but it looks like that's not going to happen tonight. I've spent half the day cooking and haven't even had time to decorate or invite guest over...There's just too much to do and not enough time."
D"I'm not surprised.You've always been one to take on more than you can handle."
N"My head shoots up and I stare daggers at him. He immediately throws up his arms in an 'I surrender' fashion and takes a step back"
D"Not that that's a bad thing!"
D"Look, what don't you just take her out to eat or something instead of going through all this trouble? You two are best friends. She doesn't need a big fancy party to know you care about her."
A"B-But she deserves much more than something like that!"
D"What she deserves is spending time with you on her special day."

N"I hang up feeling much better than I did ten minutes ago."
D"See? That wasn't so hard. You should take my advice more often."
A"Whatever Dorian. Now scoot! I have to get this place cleaned up before she comes."

N"I try to give him a friendly punch in the stomach but he easily doges my attack and leaves the kitchen laughing. Dorian may be a pain at times, but he can be a good brother when he wants to be."
The story takes place over a year. There are four seasons(Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) in game which have 15 days each in them. So in total the game will span 60 days. In terms of coding I'm on day 11 of Fall, give or take a few days I left blank for now. The game pretty much jumps into play on Fall 1 but I wonder if you guys think a slower introduction to everything would be better? I just don't want to dump everything on the player at once. Fixed events are when the layer is forced to go through an event scene or meeting. Festivals would be fixed event where your choices would determine who you'd meet. Birthdays will also be fixed events but only if you have enough affection to initiate celebrating them with each character. If it isn't high enough then they day would continue as normal and their birthday won't be mentioned. Here's a quick breakdown of the first few days with abridged notations
Fall 1[SUN]First day of game. Be a pervert or animal hater. Learn about the situation with the town
Fall 2[MON]-Meet Joriah(fixed). See shop/buildings for first time. Learn about how to increase stats.
Fall 3[TUES]-???
Fall 4[WED]-Read romance novel. Have fantasies if you're a peeping tom. Take brother lunch or do own thing. Meeting Remy or Kristian dependent on when you do the lunch event.
Fall 5[THUR]- First time you're introduced to the map and can make your own plans for the day.
Fall 6[FRI]- Free day
Fall 7[SAT]-First job opportunity. Freelance menu option gained
Fall 8[SUN]- ???
Fall 9[MON]- ???
Fall 10[TUES]-Willow's Birthday. All day fixed event with choices.
Fall 11[WED]- ???
