Idea: Indian soap opera VN

#1 Post by Heavenbornvip »

Hello..
I wanted to make a VN but something Unordianary
I am Indian, and they have Soap Operas In India that show the life of many Traditional Indians..
I have been writing a script for my own amusement..
I was thinking of making it into a VN.. I know most VNs have more to do with japanese culture, but would my VN interest you

It would be of a journey of a young Indian girl in a small village, discovering the talent she never saw in herself...

Please share your thoughts
Thank you

I think this goes in the Ideas sub-forum and you should be more specific about what your story is about. Nobody says VNs have to happen in Japan :).

Write the story that you want to write. Someone will play it.
Some of my visual novels are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. They are NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.

VN is just a genre, it don't have to be linked to Japan in any way.

Personally India and its culture interests me very very much, so I'd love to see your idea come to fruition! Good luck~

The more variety in plot, characters, and setting, the better! I say go for it!

Sure, why not? Visual novels are just pictures with text, when push comes to shove. Do whatever the hell you want with them and write about anything you feel.

Never really liked Japanese culture that much anyway.

O: the blasphemy!
Nah, just kidding. I agree, I love VNs with a setting that has nothing to do with Japan, America, or mainstream countries.

So yep, work on it :)!
I still believe this could go in the Ideas thread as it is depicting an idea. Maybe it's just me *goes to emo corner*

I'd probably put it in the Ideas forum, but on the other hand, this isn't a clearcut "this is my idea for a game" thread like some others I've seen in there.

I guess you're right.

Going back to the game idea, I've always been a great fan of Indian Movies and Soap Operas (in Romania there's a TV dedicated only to these .-.) so I have a basic idea about Indian culture, music, and stories, and am eager to learn more. I find it interesting that you want to share your culture with others, so yeah, go ahead with this project!

I know very little about Indian culture, m'self. But, hey, always an opportunity to learn more. Could this be the VN that opens me up to all sorts of various Indian cultural stuff? Perhaps!

Out of curiosity, what is her name?

Back in August, another forum member asked if anyone was interested in their fantasy-fiction adventure game. If I may quote what I said at the time, "You can write whatever sort of story or game you want. Obviously, not everyone will like it... so you will benefit by asking yourself, 'Is this what I want to write and create?'" If you believe in your story and you can commit the time and energy needed to create it, then go ahead! We'll look forward to it.

As long as there's no saas-bahu and other crappy drama that so many Indian soap series have, I think this is awesome!

The only series I ever liked was Jabb Love Hua, and even that got annoying with the stupid mother in law. But Bhola, Rahu and Aanya were great :D.
And I really liked that for once, this series was set in a rural setting instead of those unbelievably big houses. It gets boring when everyone in every series lives in a mansion, you know?
Since I have our site RSI, I used speech recognition by, sometimes this means I'll make some mistakes. :D
