Somewhere, A Clock is Ticking [GxG] [Romance/Paranormal]

#1 Post by abbebusoni »

Intro
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

The car honks, then hits. It was a simple enough mistake. It happens. Cars swerve, miss. People die.

You were too caught up in thoughts and, you guess, it was probably going to happen at some point because of that, in whatever way. But this was too soon. You're 15, and you've got plans.

You know you're dead when you open your eyes and get up. There's another girl in front of you and you don't have to ask to know it's Death.

Synopsis
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

This is a game about two girls and a grim reaper. You play as Harper, a 15 year old girl killed in a car crash in the beginning of the game. Having other plans than dying, she makes a deal with Death. If she kills one person a month from then by midnight, Death will accept that as compensation and move on. Harper will die some other year. If not, Death will take her life when the month is up.

Harper takes the deal. She's brought back to life and given the month. Death instructs her to kill Dolly, another girl in her classroom.

To Harper, it sounds easy enough. Empathy isn't familiar with her, and she's willing to use that in her favor with her life at stake.

She's almost never felt a need to be close to anyone, and in the rare times she does find loneliness, she finds ways to ignore it, distract herself. But when she begins talking to Dolly - a loner like herself with a love of ghosts and escaping reality into the realm of imagination - an unexpected bond begins.

Etc

This thread is mostly to report progress and share concept art, ideas, script dialogue, and possibly a demo in the near future, but any feedback is always welcome. I apologize if I'm late to replying to any critiques, comments, or questions - I'm in the middle of packing/moving across the country to go to college, but I'll try to respond as often as possible.

Wow, I love the idea of this story. Sounds like something I thought up before, but I wasn't able to execute it. So I wish you luck with this.
I'm not into GxG at all, but I would totally give this a shot just for the story. Will there be multiple endings? And do you have a progress estimation, or is this project still in the beginning stages? o:
Also, dat art. Totally unique, and I love the colors. That title screen is just awesome.
I would love to see this finished someday ^-^

HhhhhhHHHnnnnnnNNNNNNNNNggggGGGGG *collapses*

I'm in love. The story sounds really fascinating and I'm not sure what I'd do in that situation either, which means it's really good. Normally giant eyes are aren't my thing in art, but your style is just hNGGGGG
I'll stop with that. How is the script and have you programmed with Ren'Py before? I am watching this so hard.

I'm usually not interested in GxG stuff, but I'm loving your art style and the GUI and story concept. Here's hoping this can be finished!

Thanks for the feedback.

Making some progress with the Death character tonight:

Image
Will there be multiple endings?
Yes, two.
And do you have a progress estimation, or is this project still in the beginning stages?
I started it yesterday and I'd like to have it done within a week from now. Sorry to let anyone down, but it's going to be a fairly short and simple game.
How is the script and have you programmed with Ren'Py before?
Yes, I've used Renpy for about three years. I've only really finished the splash screen and image map main menu and some other basic stuff, and am working on customizing the rest of the interface now.

Unless you mean the character dialogue script, and I plan on writing the majority of it tonight and tomorrow.

Woah, I'm literally impressed. Your art is just shiny and colorful, and I am really in love with the title screen alone. I'll really be looking forward for your game!

On the side note, may I ask if you have an art blog or deviantart account that I can follow? I really want to see more of your arts!

OH NO IT'S SO ADORABLE

The short pitch was more than enough to grab my attention alone, but looking at the art and reading the synopsis really got me interested in this. Everything looks and sounds so good already, and there is so much detail in all of the art that it is just fun to stare at. It's like a really cartoony anime sort of style to my eyes and I LOVE that sort of style.

The stars in the eyes are an interesting and, pardon, eye catching touch.

I am definitely looking forward to this one.

Thanks for the feedback again.

'Nother art update after a break. Fixed Death's face up a bit, figured out a costume, and halfwayish through coloring her hair now.

Thanks, bro. I'm doing this project under a pseudonym for a few reasons, just one being that this is a fairly different style from what I usually do and I want to keep it separate from that. Sorry about that, I hope the art in the game suffices.
